Customer Challenge Solved: New Roof in Ponce Inlet

Some roofing projects have a twist—and on this Ponce Inlet home, the twist was the chimney cap.
When the homeowner called us this year for a full roof replacement, his roof was nearly 20 years old, with cracked shingles, lifted edges, and black streaks from years of coastal wear. But the roof wasn’t the only issue—his unused chimney was causing problems. The salty ocean air had eaten away at the metal, leaving stains down the chimney and raising concerns about water coming in.

The Chimney Cap Challenge
Most people don’t realize roofers can handle chimney caps, but we’re actually the best equipped to do so. With our experience in waterproofing, flashing, and storm-ready roof installation, we know how to keep rain from sneaking in where it doesn’t belong.
Because this home is right by the beach, we installed a custom aluminum cap. Aluminum is the only smart choice in coastal areas—it won’t rust or corrode like galvanized steel. The cap not only protects the unused chimney from the elements but also gives the roof a finished, polished look.

At the same time, the homeowner decided to eliminate his old, cloudy skylight, which had caused problems, such as leaking, in the past. Today’s flat, hurricane-rated glass skylights are far better, but in this case, he didn’t need the extra light—so removing it meant one less potential leak.

A Roof Built to Last
For the roof itself, we installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles in Silver Birch. This color not only looks great but also performs well in Florida’s heat and sun. On a large home like this one, the bright, coastal-friendly shingle gives the entire property a refreshed look. The lighter roof shingle color is energy-efficient too.
Why the Homeowner Came Back
The best part of this story? We first met this homeowner five years ago when he asked us for a roof estimate. After inspecting the roof, my dad (Joe Sr.) told him the truth: you don’t need a roof yet. Instead, he made a small repair to buy the roof more time.

That honesty stuck with the homeowner. When the roof finally reached the end of its life, he called us back—knowing he could trust us to give him the right roofing solution, not just a sales pitch. And that’s what sets Triangle Roofing, Inc. apart. We don’t just install roofs—we build trust.
👉 If you live in Ormond Beach, Ponce Inlet, or anywhere along the coast, call us for an honest roof inspection. Whether it’s a small repair, a chimney cap, or a full replacement, we’ll give you the straight answer.

Project FAQ
1: Do roofers install chimney caps? Yes, because chimney caps are all about waterproofing and flashing, roofers (like us) are the best trade to size, fabricate, and install them correctly.
2: Why choose aluminum for a beachside chimney cap? Aluminum resists rust and corrosion from salty coastal air, unlike galvanized steel. It’s the smart, long-lasting choice for Ponce Inlet and Ormond Beach homes.
3: Why was the old skylight removed? It was an older dome style that had caused issues. Since the room didn’t need extra light, removing it eliminated a potential leak point.
4: What does your “honesty first” approach mean? If you don’t need a roof, our Father and Son team will tell you. We’ve built long-term trust—and many callbacks—by giving straight answers, not sales pitches.
